Japanese Floral is one of Florence's most iconic designs, heavily influenced by her Far East travels in the 1920s. Exotic landscapes from this period are clearly evident in her designs; we can imagine Japanese Floral originating from her time exploring the tea gardens of the orient.
This superior cotton fabric is available in two weights - the smooth cotton is ideal for light upholstery and the textured cotton for general upholstery. Both are suitable for soft furnishings.
This Navy colourway coordinates with our Double Quarter Inch Stripe Cotton in Navy (FB1611), and Zig Zag Cotton in Navy (FB1621). This design and colourway also complements Japanese Floral Wallpaper in Navy (FB1465).
As a natural fabric, cotton can be prone to losing slubs from the surface, occasionally revealing flecks of the white base cotton. This is an inherent characteristic of the material and is not considered to be a defect.
Our designs are all derived from scans of Florence's original silk screens. As such, they retain authentic features such as soft edges and minor bleeds that were inherent to the original screen printing process and add to the charm of these archival designs.
